Abdulhamid Mohamed
A freelance journalist and documentary filmmaker based in Hargeisa, with over 10 years of experience in the media industry, specializing in visual storytelling that reflects societal issues and cultural transformations.
He holds a Master’s degree from EMU University in Cyprus and a Bachelor’s degree in Media (Radio & Television) from Garden City University in Sudan. Throughout his career, he has worked in independent journalism and media production, producing reports and investigative pieces, as well as developing diverse media content, from documentaries to television programs. This has given him extensive experience in investigative journalism, directing, cinematography, editing, and visual storytelling.
As a member of Somali Storytellers, he is dedicated to documenting human and social stories, focusing on impactful topics such as nomadic communities, environmental challenges, the Somali film industry, and marginalized groups. He is also passionate about exploring local traditions and cultural identity shifts, emphasizing solutions and inspiration rather than merely highlighting problems.
Beyond his work in journalism and media, he is committed to supporting and developing young talents in the field, believing in the importance of enhancing the next generation’s skills in investigative journalism, visual storytelling, and documentary filmmaking, helping them amplify their voices globally.
